In the previous post on the injectable filler market, I covered ingredients that support recovery, and help rebuild and nourish the skin surrounding the injection site. As I mentioned, filler procedures are an ever-growing business and chances are many of your clients are incorporating them into their rejuvenation regimen.
As an aesthetician, you play a vital role in the post-procedure. In addition to helping speed the recovery time, providing your clients with post-injectable support can also boost the effects of their re-youth treatment.
Magnifying the youthful effects
For post-injectable support and enhancing the visual effects, a couple ingredients to look to at are peptides and hyaluronic acid formulas. Sodium Hyaluronate, found in the Rhonda Allison Hyaluronic Serum, is the purest form of hyaluronic acid, which promotes keratinocyte proliferation and increases retinoic acid. This in turn preserves the skin’s hydration.
Moisture retention is one of the most important biological functions of hyaluronic acid, second only to providing nutrients and removing waste from cells that do not have a direct blood supply, such as cartilage cells. By allowing nutrients to move into the cell, hyaluronic acid promotes cell and collagen synthesis, and boosts barrier function.
Peptides are amino acids (protein) that are linked together in a chain to form specific groupings:
- Palmitoyl Pentapeptides – a chain of five amino acids
- Hexapeptides – a chain of six amino acids
- Marine Oligopeptides – can contain chains ranging from two to 30 natural-water amino acids.
Peptides work by sending signals that more proteins (collagen) and fibronectin are needed. These particular groupings, found in the Rhonda Allison Peptide Primer, Amino Peptide Serum, Eye Revitalizer and C Peptide Complex are considered “wrinkle minimizers” and “wrinkle relaxers”; also reversing the effects of free radical damage.
Active in very small doses, peptides work by stimulating fibroblasts, the building blocks of collagen, and signal the skin to produce more protein. Through this process they increase firmness, tone, and diminish fine lines overall, promoting healthier, more youthful skin.
Knowing which ingredients boost the effects of re-youth procedures is invaluable to your clients. Be sure you are there to meet their needs. In the third and final post in this series I will cover ingredients that serve dual purposes in the recovery and reinforcement of injectable filler procedures.
