Glycolic acid will improve the structural integrity of the skin far into the dermis. This strength is very beneficial for young, acne-prone teens and sensitive impure skins. Of all the alpha hydroxy acids, glycolic acid is the most potent in its capabilities for both rapid penetration and desquamation (exfoliation). The molecular structure of glycolic acid is much smaller than other AHAs, which increases its ability to be absorbed.
The 20% Glycolic Acid is the ideal strength for introducing a client to AHAs. It may be used as an initial cleansing step to remove lipids (a quick on and off rinse), by itself for ten minutes, or may be mixed with certain enzymes to boost the efficacy of the treatment.Cleanse skin thoroughly with appropriate cleanser. Rinse skin well before the acid step. Blot skin dry and place eye pads on client. Saturate 2” gauze with 20% Glycolic Acid and smooth onto the skin evenly. Let remain on the skin for 5 to 7 minutes. Remove with warm water and soft gauze sponge. Do light extractions. Rinse skin with Beta Green Tea Lotion and apply Growth Factor Serum to skin and massage in gently.
