Intelligent Ingredients to Age Less

Pro Youth

There are two factors that affect the aging of the skin: Extrinsic (external) and Intrinsic (internal) aging.

Intrinsic

Intrinsic aging is biological aging that occurs with the passing of time. Over time, the body experiences a break down in cell to cell communication, causing everything to slow down. From the cellular metabolism & cellular turnover to mutations in DNA - our body cannot repair itself like it did when we were younger. Glycation is another concern that affects the body and skin over time. The results? Loss of resources such as collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid while also triggering fine lines, wrinkles, loss of hydration and firmness.

Extrinsic

Extrinsic aging is a result from our daily environment. Daily exposure to UV rays, pollution, poor nutrition, and stress all contribute. Whether this is from a depletion of antioxidants, mutations in our DNA, increased inflammation or other external factors- each will contribute in accelerating the aging process.

External stress is also a major part of extrinsic aging; stress shortens the health of your DNA, and can actually cause them to shut down, resulting in DNA damage. This causes a breakdown in cell to cell communication. At the cellular level, there is a decrease in the stem cells’ reproductive abilities, as well as impairments to the mitochondrial function. Simply put, the communication is flawed and this leads to mutations in the DNA. These mutations also affect the skin’s ability to repair itself. One key ingredient that can help to boost cellular energy is pyruvic acid. This can be found in our Mandelic Rejuvenator, which can be a powerful anti-aging ally.

Collagen and elastin also break down over time. Below our top layers of skin called the epidermis, is the dermal layer. The dermal layer starts to run short on its resources, and cannot produce enough collagen and elastin. It is important to always feed the dermis so that it has enough resources to produce more collagen and elastin. Vitamin A or Beta Carotene is vital in feeding the dermis. These ingredients go through a conversion process, which results in retinoic acid. The body recognizes the retinoic acid and uses it to feed the dermis, which in turn produces more collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid. The result? Younger looking, refined, more plump skin. Rhonda Allison has two, very effective lifestyle vitamin A’s for every night use in our Stem Cell A and ChronoPeptide A serums.

So Why Does Our Skin Age?

Simply put, everything is slowing down and does not have the ability to repair like it did when we were younger.

Rhonda Allison products address all aspects of aging. We cannot just focus on collagen/elastin and leave antioxidants and ATP energy enhancement out of the equation. We will not get the results. It is also important to remember: do not over exfoliate the skin, but begin to feed it, allowing natural exfoliation to take place.

Our skin cells have a natural turnover ability and cycle. When we are younger this is taking place about every 28 days. This is great and skin is softer and young looking. As we get into our 30’s this begins to change and slow down. Cell turnover slows down to 40-45 days before they go through the turnover process. This is where the signs of aging become more visible. Build up, rougher texture, fine lines, and wrinkles are beginning to form.

Why do we go to a 40-45 day cellular turnover? As we age, you do not have enough resources within the skin to process efficiently or correctly, so your skin cells hold on. At this point, if you force exfoliate you are also forcing resources that you have to respond, which in the long run repeats a vicious cycle leading to a thinner, more sensitive skin.

Our Pro Youth answer is giving you lifestyle formulations that build & strengthen, while supporting the skin internally. This begins to naturally increase the cellular turnover, which in turn slows down the aging process!
